Creating new research produced by the fusion of designology and medicine

In the previous degree program “Master’s Program in Kansei, Behavioral and Brain Sciences,” we carried out an interdisciplinary laboratory exercise called Sogo-enshu. It brought about various unique results. The most significant characteristic of this exercise was an interdisciplinary approach, where students from three different fields (designology, neuroscience, and psychology) with different educational backgrounds and ideas worked together as one project team. I helped them publish their unique research results as a supervisor of this interdisciplinary exercise. In our new degree program, only designology-major students are admitted, and the interdisciplinary lab exercise is no longer offered. However, we can share our knowledge and experience in medicine, particularly anatomy and neuroscience, with students in the new degree program, to help them develop new perspectives. We believe we can still be a pioneer of new research fields. We provide necessary medical knowledge for students who are seeking new designology. Our goal is to create new medical designology with students.
