Human cognition and behaviors are not always rational because they are significantly influenced by changes in the surrounding environment, the internal state, or personal characteristics. In recent years, techniques that incorporate brain function measurements in product development have attracted a lot of attention. Using multiple measurement techniques of brain activity and cognitive function, we study methods that can quantitatively assess subjective human sensations and emotions. We use state-of-the-art tools for brain imaging and data processing techniques of neural network dynamics to advance our basic research on human cognition.  Our research area also includes techniques to help optimize product- and/or service-design by applying objective measures of our subjective experiences.

Main Research Topics

Research on quantitative assessment techniques of subjective human sensations

Research on methods of brain activity-based product and service assessments

Research on multimodal neuroimaging techniques

Research on cognitive brain foundations of personality and individual differences
