Printmaking

The Printmaking program offers fundamental knowledge and techniques through practical making. The purpose of this course is to cultivate specialists who are able to contribute to many areas of society by expressing rich emotions with a high level of creative skill. Printmaking can be classified into four types, woodcut, copper plate, lithograph and screen prints. However, contemporary printmaking doesn’t limit itself, and incorporate new technologies, for example, photographs and computer graphics.
In this course, we offer fully equiped facilities in the four basic print areas mentioned above, which are indispensable for developing a personal artistic language. In the first and second years, students take basic classes to develop drawing skills in both the Western and Japanese styles. In the third and fourth years, more specialized classes with practical printmaking are offered.
