Professor Shin-ichi Tamagawa, who has been dedicated to the development of education and research in the field of Western-style painting for 34 years since being appointed in 1985, will be retiring at the end of March 2019.
“A Celebration of the Retirement of a University of Tsukuba Professor Shin-ichi Tamagawa Exhibition—The garden where the rain stopped—” is being held as one of the events commemorating the retirement of Professor Tamagawa.
This exhibition will feature around 80 works, ranging from Professor Tamagawa’s sketches from his student days to his new, unpublished piece (size #500, 248.5×333.3 cm). These will be displayed across three locations inside and outside the campus (University of Tsukuba University Hall Art Space, the Art and Design Gallery, and the Tsukuba Museum of Art, Ibaraki).

Closed: Sundays|January 19 (Saturday), February 25 (Monday), February 26 (Tuesday), March 12 (Tuesday) On Saturday, February 9, the Art Space will be temporarily closed for repairs to the air conditioning unit inside the hall.
