私の創作活動は、様々なシナリオによって活性化される人間と自然の関係性を探究することに依っています。自然と人間に対する私の関心は、文化的・地理的に異なる文脈の中で、私達が本来的に有する自然との繊細な結びつきを理解したいという探究心の原動力となっているのです。急速なグローバル化に直面している現代、このような結びつきは益々希薄化する傾向にあるように思われます。私の作品の多くは、建築物や自然環境の変化から生じる緊張感や、この変化が周囲の環境とそこに住む人々に与える影響について考察を行っています。私の作品は、主に芸術と植物学の学際的研究を基盤としており、そこで得た知見と学びからインスピレーションを得ています。この研究は、作品における概念的な影響の他に、物質の研究や視覚表現にも影響を与えています。人間と植物の関係性という抽象的感覚に基づく私の作品は、手作業によって制作を行うとともに、写真を媒体としています。そこでは、しばしば写真のイメージと他の触覚的素材と並置することによる作品に込められた物語の暗示、また私の視覚言語の研究と拡張の手段として、様々な素材や工芸、アート制作の技術の試行にも取り組んでいます。
As an artist, my practice lies in exploring the human–nature relationship activated by various scenarios. My personal interest in nature and way of living drives my quest to understand the delicate sense of interconnectedness with nature in different cultural and geographical contexts. In many of my works, I investigate tensions generated from changes in built and natural environs, and how it impacts the lives of people living in and around these sites.My work is largely research-based, I gain inspiration from the findings and insights gained through interdisciplinary research work. Apart from conceptual influences, my research also influences the material investigation and visual expressions in my artworks. I love to work with my hands to produce delicate works with a sense of abstraction. I work mainly with the photographic medium and often juxtapose images with other tactile materials to suggest selected narratives. As such, I also love experimenting with materials, craft, and art making techniques, as a means of research and expansion of my visual language.
