As an artist and a researcher, I am interested in the topic of individual and collective memory, micro and macro history, as well as traditional crafts in the era of modernity. Usually, I work with embroidery, painting, and installation. For CAIR 2021, I am going to make a textile artwork, using embroidery as a medium. I want to expand the idea of communication between people, time, and spaces, using traditional stitches as a medium. Embroidery was a pastime for women and girls in traditional cultures. In my practice, I try to create a link between contemporary art and the concept of embroidery in cultural and historical contexts. I take inspiration from traditional crafts, abstract painting, design, fashion, and books. Before the pandemic, I was travelling a lot, but the current situation has forced me to find new subjects of observation. During the residency, I intend to concentrate on my project, share my experiences, and learn from other participants.
