Date of Visit: Tuesday, January 29
Number of Visitors: Head of the World Heritage Research Center, 1; lecturers, 2; students, 20
Details of the Visit:
- In the morning, the head of the center and the two lecturers made a courtesy visit to the head of Art and Design. The students visited the central library and learned about the building structures and state of seismic retrofitting. In the afternoon, the group attended a lecture by Professor Uekita, and visited the casting and sculpture room, atelier, and Art and Physical Education Library. This was a great opportunity for the group to deeply consider what it means to be an architect, as they attended lectures on modernist architecture of prominent Japanese architects, inspected actual buildings, and observed earthquake resistant construction taking place.
