作品解説　Statement

黄賓虹（1865～1955）は、1907年、『国粹学報』という月刊の学術誌に「叙摹印」を発表し、篆刻・印学の研究に新たな道を開きました。本作はその中の「繆篆筆法」の一節を抜粋したものです。 

　「繆篆」とは篆刻のための篆書を指し、字形は方正で均整がとれ、隷書の趣を帯びるとともに、ものごとを織り整える「綢繆」の意を含むことから名付けられました。本作は繆篆の結構によって、従来の大篆の造形を解体し、随所に簡牘書に見られる軽快で明朗な筆意を取り入れています。全体は縦疎横密の章法で構成し、大篆書法の多様な表情と趣を伝えることを心掛けました。 

Huang Binhong (1865–1955) published “Xu Moyin （On the Imitation of Seal Carving)” in 1907 in the monthly academic journal Guocui Xuebao, opening a new path for the study of seal carving and seal scholarship. This work is an excerpt from the section titled “Mou-zhuan Bifa（Brush Techniques of Mou-zhuan) ”within that essay. 

The term “Mou-zhuan”  refers to a style of seal script used specifically for seal carving. Its character forms are square and well-balanced, imbued with the flavor of clerical script. In this piece, the structural principles of Mou-zhuan  are employed to deconstruct the traditional configuration of seal script (Da-zhuan), while incorporating the light and lucid brush spirit characteristic of bamboo–slip writing. The composition features vertically open and horizontally dense spacing,  striving to convey the diverse expressive qualities and aesthetic appeal of the ancient seal script tradition.
