作品解説　Statement

作品《Polish me / Deface me》では、ブロンズ製の2つの頭像に対し、それぞれ「人が触れ、手入れされてきた表層の様子」と「放置され、緑青の条線が発生した様子」とを再現したパティネーションを施した。異なる二つの様相を呈するパティナを隣り合わせに配置し、対比する試み。

In the work “Polish me / Deface me,” a patination process was applied to two bronze heads to recreate the respective conditions of “the surface that has been touched and cared for by people” and “the appearance of neglect with the occurrence of Acid lines.” The intention was to contrast these two different aspects by placing the patinas side by side. In the work “Casting,” an attempt was made to reference elements installed during the casting process such as runners, gate cup, and gas vents , highlighting their sculptural interest. While the actual pieces are made of plaster and differ from the real casting process, they were sculpted to function in their own role.
