“Iwaki Note (FUKUSHIMA VOICE)” shown at German-Japanese Youth Leaders Exchange Meeting

On Jan. 26, “Iwaki Note (FUKUSHIMA VOICE)” was shown at the German students community in University of Tsukuba, “Baumkuchener Verein”. A total of about 30 Japanese and German students took part. The student directors, Okazaki and Sasaki, were the presenters, and after the screening, a discussion was held involving the entire group. The student directors raised the questions about the harmful rumors due to the nuclear power station accident and about the fading of the memory, within Japan, of the devastating earthquake. Comments from the crowd pointed to the importance to reexamine Japan from a global standpoint and suggested that there should be more effort to show the movie abroad.
On Feb. 20, a screening intended for students and citizens will be held at the University of Bonn in Germany. Two of our student directors will fly over for the event and we expect a lively discussion on the day. We would like to thank the members of “Baumkuchener Verein” and all those who took part. (Iida)
