Murakami Fumiak, faculty member in the Department of Integrated Arts (specializing in media art and contemporary art), presented at the Nagoya Healthcare Art Management Promotion Project, delivering an online lecture on “Digital Art through Collaboration between Art Universities and University Hospitals.”
This initiative aims to raise awareness of the necessity and utility of art in healthcare settings such as medical and welfare facilities through the implementation of workshops and symposiums. It was adopted by the Agency for Cultural Affairs’ “Cultural and Artistic Promotion Project at Universities” and has continued since 2018.
In this lecture, two types of art were introduced: 1) art proposals for medical spaces, and 2) art aimed at disease prevention. For the former, there were presentations on animation works screened on digital signage monitors within the affiliated hospital, large-format photographs, and animation workshops. For the latter, there were introductions to manga designed for diabetes prevention and applications for preventing cognitive decline. In the subsequent question-and-answer session, discussions were held regarding cost issues related to digital media use and methods for collaboration with medical professionals.
