A Creative Reconstruction: Vision Formulation, 2nd session
For the 2nd session of A Creative Reconstruction: Vision Formulation we were honored to welcome Pr. Takenori Miyamoto (Tohoku University of Art and Design as Museum). He delivered a lecture entitled “Joint Actions of University Faculty and Students in the Aftermath of Catastrophe.” He quoted the saying ‘Dig under your feet and you will find a source’ to express the sentiment that the hardships faced by disaster victims are also one’s own. Miyamoto’s words fostered a constructive discussion concerning the future leadership goals of the CR Project.

A Creative Reconstruction: Vision Formulation, 1st session
At last, A Creative Reconstruction: Vision Formulation has begun!
During this weekly series we will invite guests to speak about post-disaster reconstruction.
For the first session we were honored to welcome Norio Nakamura and Shigeo Nishiuchi, residents who had to evacuate Futaba and now live in Tsukuba. Mr. Nakamura described his experience of nearly drowning in the wave of the tsunami and Mr. Nishiuchi outlined the chronology of the nuclear accident at Fukushima through related newspaper articles and other media. The students listened intently to their heartfelt and unique testimonies.
Announcement of the date for the 2nd public viewing of Kazunari Watanabe’s cycle race.
Since the timing of the race in which Kazunari Watanabe would participate was not determined, we were awaiting confirmation before scheduling a date for the public screening. It has now been decided that the 2nd public viewing would be held on August 8th.
Today was the first viewing. The people from Futaba as well as school children from the children’s house were present for this lively gathering. Also, the “Power generation! Miniature cycle race” that was held at the same time proved to be very popular.
We look forward to active participation at the 2nd viewing for those who were here today as well as those who could not attend.
