"Future Artists Tokyo" is an exhibition aimed at providing aspiring art students with a chance to gain practical experience and to produce artists and curatorial talent who can work internationally.
Through collaboration between art universities across Japan, selected student teams will create works, and a student curation team that transcends the boundaries of universities will be responsible for setting the theme, selecting the works, and displaying them.
Following the first exhibition in which six schools participated, this second exhibition will feature 6 students selected from 2 representatives from 19 universities, as well as seven students studying art production. These promising students from all over the country will gather to mark the entrance of Art Fair Tokyo 101.

【Exhibition Featuring Works by Western Style Painting and Plastic Arts and Mixed Media Students】“FUTURE ARTISTS TOKYO 2019”

Chinatsu Matsui, a third-year student of the Doctoral Program in Art and Design (Western Style Painting) participated in the “Future Artists Tokyo” Exhibition. Her works were featured at the main venue “Tokyo International Forum” and satellite venue “Warehouse TERRADA T-ART HALL.”
From this university, the work of Yosuke Agata, a second-year student in the Master's Program in Art and Design (Plastic Arts and Mixed Media), was also displayed. In addition, Ayaka Shinokura, a first-year student in the same program (Art Environment Support), was involved in curating the exhibition.
“Future Artists Tokyo” is an exhibition that aims to create internationally successful artists and curators out of aspiring art students as they gain further practical experience.
With the cooperation of art universities across the country, the selected student team produces their work, and a student curation team extending beyond the inter-university framework implements processes including setting the theme and selecting and displaying the works.
Following the first exhibition, in which 6 schools participated, 38 students selected from the 101 students representing each school from 19 universities and 7 students studying art production participated in the second exhibition. By gathering promising students from across the country, they are welcomed into the world of “Art Fair Tokyo 2019.”
