Jun Yoshino Self Selection Exhibition April 2011, 4 - June 26, 2011

We are holding an exhibition of ten of Yoshino Jun's representative oil paintings, a self-selected work by Professor Emeritus of the University of Tsukuba.

This exhibition covers a wide range of works, from his early period of abstract expression influenced by the Art Informel movement, to the period when he acquired rich colors through contact with European culture, the period when he was inspired by the primitive forms of Romanesque sculpture, to his more recent works that take Bible themes and develop epic narratives.
Professor Emeritus Yoshino taught at Tokyo University of Education and University of Tsukuba, and held important positions such as Dean of the School of Art and Design, while continuing to create oil paintings as a form of personal expression. His humanistic perspective, which runs throughout the works on display this time, embodies one way of being as a painter.
I hope you can sense the lyricism created by the primitive images and rich colors, as well as the warm gaze that permeates the entire work.
