Due to the renovation of Building 2014A, which will begin in the summer of XNUMX, we will be holding a special exhibition at the University Hall Annex Hall. The theme of the first exhibition is "Drawing." Drawing is difficult to define, and each artist has a different way of understanding it, and it has the potential to be expressed in a variety of ways. We would like to think together with you about the meaning of "drawing a line" once again.
*No evaluation or screening will be conducted.

● Purpose of the event

As mentioned in the announcement, the aim of this project is to provide a new venue for art exhibitions to students of the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Tsukuba, as Art Gallery T+, which has been a venue for exhibitions for students, will be temporarily unavailable due to earthquake-resistance renovation work on Building 6A beginning in the summer.
Up until now, our activities have focused on the physical education and arts area, so this special exhibition will be our first activity outside of that area.
This earthquake-resistance renovation work is also an opportunity for us. It has been Art Gallery T+'s long-cherished wish since its founding, and it is now our chance to take a new step toward "expanding our artistic activities to other academic faculties," which has been the core of our activities.
We chose the Annex Hall as the venue this time not only due to the efforts and cooperation of the teachers in the School of Arts and Sciences, but also because we thought it would be a familiar place for students of the School of Arts and Sciences as well as students of other schools.
The main purpose of holding this exhibition is to expand opportunities for student expression and to increase the possibility of sharing that expression across the entire university.

●About the theme "Drawing"

The theme of this exhibition, "drawing," is a word whose definition and meaning are extremely difficult to handle and which has many different interpretations.
The dictionary definition of "draw" is "to draw a line" or "to pull." On the other hand, as an art term, "draw" is introduced as a painting created with a single colored line, with emphasis on the act of drawing a line.
The theme of this year's program, "drawing," is a contrasting form of expression to "painting," which is created by applying paint to a surface, and is thought to be deeply connected to the foundations, modeling, and expression of all majors.
Drawing, which involves drawing lines on a screen and has a simple yet diverse range of expression, transcends all disciplines and is a theme that all students in the School of Art can relate to, so we set the theme of our first special exhibition as "Drawing."

●About entry and exhibition

We have recently established a provision regarding "making an entry," and I would like to explain this in more detail.
