A special exhibition entitled "Exploring the History Since Its Founding" will be held.

This is a special exhibition looking back on the 20-year history of T+ Gallery.
The exhibition will mainly be a review of the "Tsukuba Manga Artists Exhibition" held in 2005.

We will have a talk session with writer Ario Kawauchi as a guest, and T+ staff students will talk about the contemporary artist Cai Guo-Qiang, who has ties to Tsukuba University, and Kawauchi's book "Giant in the Sky." Anyone can listen to the talk for free.

Guest profile

Ario Kawauchi
Born in Tokyo in 1972. Graduated from Nihon University College of Art, Department of Broadcasting. Completed graduate studies at Georgetown University. After working for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), he became a freelance writer. In 2013, he won the 33rd Nitta Jiro Literary Award for "Looking for Baul" (Gentosha). In 2018, he won the 16th Kaiko Takeshi Non-Fiction Award for "The Giant in the Sky."

2019 Art Gallery T+ Special Exhibition Application Guidelines

【概要】
The University of Tsukuba Art Gallery T+ will be holding a special exhibition that we hope will provide an opportunity for students to present their works and to interact with each other.
This is an open exhibition, with the aim that T+ staff and exhibitors will work together to create the exhibition, and there is no restriction on theme, genre, or form of work.
However, if there are a large number of applicants, the applications will be screened by T+ staff.
Please note that we may not be able to accommodate everyone's requests.

* The outline of the work can be as far as it has been decided. Any shape or size is acceptable.

[Application requirements]
・One piece of work per person (please contact us if you would like to combine multiple pieces into one piece of work.)
・The work must be unpublished at Art Gallery T+
・Items that may soil the gallery, food, drink, or items that emit strong odors are not permitted to be exhibited.
・Installations and video works are also accepted. In the case of video works, the exhibitor must provide the necessary equipment, etc.
For works that produce sound, headphones must be used (please also indicate the size of the equipment in section ④ when submitting your application).
・Please note that we cannot take responsibility for any damage or theft of any artwork.

[ Screening and Selection ]
- Selection will be made by T+ staff, taking into consideration the size of the gallery and the type of work.
・The selection results will be notified to applicants in early June.

[Loading/unloading]
The items will be delivered on Sunday, July 7th and removed on Friday, July 7th.
In both cases, the exhibitor must carry out the procedure themselves in the presence of T+ staff.
Captions and display stands can be provided by the gallery if desired.

[About the exhibition title]
The name of the exhibition will not be decided in advance; it will be decided through discussion between the exhibitor and T+ staff on the day of delivery.

University of Tsukuba Art Gallery T+ Special Exhibition Application Guidelines

[Planning overview]
This time, Art Gallery T+ will be exhibiting works by students from the School of Art and Design with the theme of "Carnival."
After a review by gallery staff, the selected works will be exhibited in the special exhibition.

【Application rules】
* Any genre of work can be submitted, be it two-dimensional or three-dimensional.
・Flat surfaces must be within size 80 (regardless of size)
Reference: F 145cm x 112cm
・For three-dimensional objects, the size must be within 50 cm in length, 50 cm in width, and 70 cm in height.
Installations are also accepted as long as they meet the above standards for three-dimensional works.
・Video works are also accepted (however, they must be screened on a display. Sound-emitting works must be equipped with headphones.
(Install the dohon, blackout curtains cannot be used)
●Art materials and techniques are free
●One piece per person, limited to works not previously published at T+
●Entry that soils the gallery or provides food or drink is not permitted.
