T+review

I frowned in surprise at the strong impact of the work. The unique worldview of the work created a different space in the gallery. I was a little hesitant, but I opened the door to the gallery.
When I saw the works from the outside, I was simply overwhelmed by the tremendous impact of the works, but when I got closer, I was amazed by the details. The depiction of the details in each work is overwhelming, and it takes your breath away. Also, when you look closely, you will discover various interesting things. What caught my attention in particular was the presence of "eyes." If you look closely at each work, you will see that "eyes" are repeatedly painted. The first thing you notice are the many eyes painted on "Abracadabra," which is the title of the exhibition, on the left hand side as you enter the gallery, but there are also other eyes painted secretly in places you would not notice, and collages of handicraft items. When I asked about this, the exhibitor, Shinozuka, said, "I became very concerned about other people's eyes."
"Eyes" are particularly special among human organs. We look into the eyes of others to communicate our own feelings and to gauge their feelings. What's interesting is that we can hardly make eye contact with the eyes depicted in these works. This instills a kind of discomfort and fear in the viewer. (Kanazawa Minami)
