I think monochrome works have a different appeal than color works. You can see the fine details of the picture clearly without being deceived by the colors, so the texture stands out very well. The contrast between black and white is also one of the attractions of monochrome works. When strong light creates a strong contrast, it becomes very dramatic. I think monochrome works require more attention to lighting than color works.
It is said that black and white is documentary-like. When we say documentary, it tends to be replaced with a word that gives a very businesslike impression of a documentary work, but I think there are still times when you can sense something like emotion behind the motifs shown. I think that this feeling is felt strongly in these works. I am very envious of those who can express this. (Ichikawa Taiya)
