T+review

February 2th. This is the day known as Valentine's Day in Japan. Was it a coincidence or was it fate? The last day of this exhibition was the holy day, Valentine's Day.
This day is a special day. A vague sense of hope, anxiety and confusion. A variety of human emotions intertwine in the run-up to this day. As I walk around the gallery, I feel a little sentimental, remembering the days when I was a girl and felt excited but also disappointed.
On the left wall are illustrations that exude the vulnerability and innocence that is unique to boys and girls. These illustrations are often dismissed with the clichéd word "cute." However, the exhibitors' illustrations are by no means works that end there. On the contrary, perhaps their cuteness is the gateway to the exhibition. There is a world that can only be seen by standing at the entrance.
Valentine's Day is an event that is said to have started as a corporate strategy, but there is a reason why so many people are still waiting for this day to come. It must be because this day is different from an ordinary day, a day that is not ordinary.
The boys and girls run off, tired of waiting for that day. It is precisely because there is a touch of bitterness in the tenderness that this day is not merely a sweet one, but one that gives birth to individual memories. Perhaps it is precisely because new thoughts and memories are born there that we are tired of waiting for this day once again. (Ota Natsuki)
