A talk session entitled "Introduction to Tsukuba Manga" was held as a linked event to the "Tsukuba Manga Artists Exhibition."
The lecturers were Hiroshi Takahama and Naotake Saito, both of whom participated in the "Tsukuba Manga Artists Exhibition." They shared their valuable stories about their work from their student days to the present, comparisons between major and subculture magazines, and the actual production process.
The lecture was a great success, with 130 attendees.
Instructor Profile
Hiroshi Takahama
Born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1977. Graduated from the Department of Integrated Design, Faculty of Art and Design, University of Tsukuba in 2001. In the same year, she made her debut with "Saigo no Onnatachi" (graduation project), which was published in the monthly magazine Garo. Her comics include "Yellow Backs" (Seirindou), "Mariko Parade" (Ohta Publishing), and "Awabi" (Yugaku Shorin).
Saito Naotake
Born in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1978. Graduated from the Visual Communication Design course at the College of Art and Design, University of Tsukuba in 2001. Debuted in 2004 with "Full Moon and Wolf" (Shounen Sunday Honorable Mention).
