About the things I'm thinking about now

T+review

Sequel. It is a word used for things that continue, such as a continuation or sequel, but what exactly does the "sequel" shown in this exhibition mean?
The works that were displayed in the first and second halves of the week all had different aspects. An apple with the bottom half bleached, a car stopper photographed at an angle that made it look like the letter M, the symbol of a famous hamburger shop, a novel with sexually suggestive words removed, clothing with the words "NO BORDER" printed on a border. They used familiar objects that we see in our daily lives. Each one appealed gently to the senses and thoughts, and it felt like they were presenting the viewer with a small discovery.
I don't remember where it was, but while looking at these works, I found myself thinking about my own daily life. I thought, "I sometimes think about things like this, too," and "Oh, come to think of it, I found something like this the other day." I wonder if these works were born out of such daily life.
Small discoveries appear suddenly, and if left unattended, they will be buried in the everyday world before we know it. In order to avoid being buried, we try to hold on to them in some way. At such times, I scribble notes on paper, and I felt that the exhibitors had held on to these "scribbles" in the form of artwork.
Continued. Something that continues. Isn't that the everyday life we live? (Yuki Hashimoto)
