T+review
The gallery had a calm atmosphere that was hard to imagine from the exhibition title "Color" and the psychedelic posters. On two simple vertical desks, one on the wall side and one on the glass side, pottery and lacquerware were placed alternately, and a total of nine works were exhibited.
When I hear pottery and lacquerware, I imagine something old-fashioned and modest, but the works on display were completely different to that image. The lacquerware sparkled with mysterious patterns made up of various colors, while the pottery's vibrant turquoise blue color jumped out at me. It was the first time I had taken the time to carefully look at pottery and lacquerware for so long. If you think about it, these vibrantly colored works were originally made of colorless wood and clay. Through the hands of the exhibitors, these colorless objects were given a variety of colors, becoming works that catch the viewer's eye. This is truly "color." The glossy, vibrant vessels quietly placed in the gallery attracted and delighted us viewers with the unique colors of the pottery and lacquer. (Miyazaki Akane)
