"Open Masturbation" Masakazu Koyama September 2012, 9 - September 24, 2012

The exhibition "Open Masturbation" will be held.
Venue: Art Gallery T+
Date: April 2012, 9 (Monday) - April 24, 2012 (Friday)
Exhibitor: Masakazu Koyama (3rd year, Western Painting major)

My creative process can be described as excretory and masturbatory. I try to embody the presence of people, hopes, desires and prayers that appear in my imagination.
I just hope that the production can save him.

T+review

 Eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes
All eyes were looking down on me. All the things that were missing something were looking down on me. In this strange space, my body, which was missing nothing at all, felt strangely unnatural.

I began to feel strange as I was greeted by a blank eye stuck to the glass, and looked down from above by a faceless, vividly colored body. My throat felt so tight that it was painful, and something thick was about to overflow from deep inside. There is no such thing as pure, truly beautiful things in this world we live in. Everyone faces despair and a hopeless reality at some point. Negative emotions that are not "beautiful" from a general aesthetic point of view should never be expressed, spoken of, or shown. However, unless we release them one day and spit them out from within ourselves, they will forever follow us like a dark shadow. And then I thought. Like the patchwork man and woman on the wall to my left, this body that I call "myself" at the moment may have been made by cutting my "self" into pieces and stitching those pieces together.

The exhibitor states that the act of production itself is an excretory, masturbatory act. If that is so, then perhaps I, who have visited the exhibition many times before realizing it, was engaging in the same excretory, masturbatory act when I looked at the "things" = "works" that were thus excreted.
