"A small story that begins in your heart" Pastel painting exhibition
T+review
Inside the exhibition room covered in blackout curtains, when you quietly open the door, you will find animals living in a world painted in soft pastels.
In the quiet space of outer space, a black bear picks up a stone on what appears to be the surface of the moon, with a meteorite that may have crashed into the sky in the background.
The lion is lying lazily on the throne, his chin resting on his hand, his tail holding the crown. "What I have obtained."
In the blue sky, a blue giraffe stretches its neck to the highest cloud. "There's something I want."Although the animals are depicted in detail, they do not give the impression of being realistic.
This is probably because it feels like each person has their own will.
When I stood in front of the works, I felt as if I was having a one-on-one conversation with them.
The animals tell their own stories."This is how I am, what about you?"
The story is different for each viewer.
It was a space that made me feel like I had jumped into my own picture book world.
Combined with the title, the work conveys a message that seeps through you like a poem.
There was also a certain depth to it that made me think about my own way of life. After leaving the exhibition room, I felt like I had traveled deep into my own mind.
It was such a cute world that I felt like I was able to honestly face my own heart.
I also wanted to come back to this world to see how my own unique story would speak to me.
And even now, those animals continue to live in their own worlds in my heart.
I will continue to live with them until the day comes when I can talk to them again. (Ikeda Hiroko)
