T+review

Upon entering the gallery, there are many photographs lined up in soft light. The photographs, arranged in rows and columns, create a sense of movement throughout the exhibition space, giving it a lively impression. These scattered photographs are like images that appear and disappear in one's mind. Perhaps they represent the state of mind when one hears the word "lover."
The artist is not likely trying to show the presence of a lover in this exhibition, and the viewer does not get that impression either. What is felt is the diverse images of the "lover" that have been cut out into the form of photographs and turned into a series of works, and the artist's happy and strong feelings towards him. Perhaps the artist wanted to rediscover her lover in the process of cutting out the things that came to mind about her lover and freezing time with her camera to create her works.
The photographs show scenes from her life with her lover. Some of them include him, and some are just part of the landscape. Her gaze is always on the camera, and you can sense her presence in the photographs, as she gazes tenderly at her lover, or glances up at the trees while spending time with him. It makes you feel as if you are the photographer.
Turning one's lover into a work of art may have taken courage. It may have been too subjective and difficult to show. However, this exhibition boldly expresses the lover, and by not limiting its expression to portraits and other direct depictions of the lover, it is not overbearing and does not cause the viewer to hesitate. It was an exhibition that frankly reproduced the artist's "image of her lover." (Okano Emiko)
