Venue: Art Gallery T+
Date: December 2010, 11 - January 1, 2010
Exhibitor:
Noriko Watanabe (4th year student, Composition major, Integrated Design field)
Chito Sasaki (4th year, Composition major, Integrated Design field)
He's a Scorpio, born in November, type B blood, and works at the same part-time job and lab. He's a free spirit who loves sweet things and lives nearby. We have a lot in common, but when we try to make something, it turns out to be something completely different. But at the root, we're similar after all.
I hope that those who come will be able to find this root of what we do.
T+review
As soon as I stepped into the gallery, the first thing that caught my eye was the many colors that tickle the hearts of girls. The colors were chocolate, biscuits, cookies, fresh cream, strawberry sauce, etc., in the form of sweets that any girl would love. They sparkled on high heels and pumps, and surrounded us in the white box that was the gallery. It was as if they were inviting us to a lively sweets party. Sasaki Chito's work, Pink Strawberry.
I happened to look at the wall and saw a row of small boxes. Looking inside, I saw a wordless fable. The time flowing there seemed different from the time in other places. The shape of a poem of a young girl's heart that progresses along the axis of time inside the box, the song of that poetry is so small that you can't hear it unless you listen carefully. Fragile, fleeting, straightforward, and pure. It is a work by Noriko Watanabe.Listening to the faint sound of poetry, I felt as if I was standing in the sweet colors, peering into the heart of an adolescent girl and peering into her abyss.
The exhibition was called "Ichi Fuichi" and the two artists, who have a lot in common, created two different works before us. The form of expression is "Fuichi", but the underlying meaning is "Ichi".
As soon as we left the gallery, we realized something. The "ichi" of the two artists is actually the "ichi" that all of us girls have in common, and the proof is in the vivid colors and the faint sound of poetry that we can find within ourselves! The reason why their works are so gorgeous, cute, and slightly sad is probably because we too have hummed their sweet, yet slightly bitter, maiden songs. (Misato Iwamura)
