T+review

I first saw the exhibition title, "PIT IN!", on a poster for the exhibition about 10 days before the opening. I was a little overwhelmed by the powerful sound of the words, but my expectations for what kind of exhibition would be created began to grow.
Kubo Rintaro's exhibition "PIT IN !" is centered on motorcycle design drawings. Colorful motorcycle design sketches are lined up on a large piece of black paper pasted on the wall, and lines and arrows like conductors connecting the sketches, the words "Copy" and "Original" are written in chalk, and between them are captions about the motorcycles and sketches. It seems that there are copies of actual motorcycles and his original sketches.
And that clear line of thought was very helpful for me, who has no knowledge of motorcycles. There seem to be stages in each sketch, with what starts out as a pencil drawing and then colored in the next stage, with the shape and details evolving accordingly. Also, the sketches were not only of the entire motorcycle, but also of the wheels and other parts drawn from various angles.
PIT IN refers to the time when a car goes into the pit to refuel in an auto race, in order to prepare to return to the race in better condition. His exhibition displayed design sketches, which are blueprints, step by step, and carefully showed visitors how the designs were refined, offering a glimpse into the creative attitude and accumulation of knowledge that Kubo Rintaro has accumulated during his university years. In the caption he said that he had created an exhibition to resemble a pit, but to me, the exhibition "PIT IN!" seems like Kubo's own pit. With his love for his artwork and the motif of bikes in his heart, it will be very interesting to see how his pit will develop in the future, and how he will participate in races from the "adjustment" stage onwards.
