The hazy spring mountainside is
The wind blows with the scent of flowers
This is a poem by Ariwara no Motokata (Kokin Wakashu, Volume 103, Poem No. XNUMX) written on a sheet of paper about the size of a half-sized kaishi. I was not conscious of creating a simple poem, but I wrote it in a scattered manner in two simple sections, one above the other.
I had intended to imitate the strong lines and rhythmic character shapes of the "Sunmatsuan Shikishi" that I had worked on as a student, but in the end, the hastyness of my brushwork was all that stood out.
