A poem written by the local lord Tanbi no Masato after climbing Mount Tsukuba
The cries of the roosters echo through the eastern land. Though the mountains are high, the noble mountains of the two gods are a sight to behold. People have told me that the mountains of Tsukuba are mountains I long to see, and as I hibernate in winter, I miss them even more. I come here even as I walk along snow-covered mountain paths.

A long poem by Tajihi no Mahito kokujin, Volume 382-XNUMX of the Manyoshu.

I have tried to follow the example of Fujiwara Sari's (944-998) Chinese calligraphy and Miyama Ryudo (1903-80), who elevated it to medium-sized and large kana works.
