The shadow of a deer, dark and dreary in the moonlight
I was conscious of creating a softness that would match the onomatopoeia of "hotsukeri." For me, deer are strongly associated with my hometown, Itsukushima, Hiroshima, and I had always wanted to write a haiku that included deer, so I was glad I was able to make it happen this time.
