"Takanokirihon Kokin Wakashu" Complete Restoration Commemorative Exhibition February 2011th (Tue) - February 2th (Sun) 8

The beauty of Heian period kana calligraphy is revived after a thousand years

Exhibition commemorating the completion of the restoration of the entire "Koyagirebon Kokin Wakashu"

Date and time: February 2011th (Tuesday) to February 2th (Sunday), 8
9:XNUMXam - XNUMX:XNUMXpm (until XNUMX:XNUMXpm on the last day)
Venue: Tsukuba University General Communication Hall/Multipurpose Hall
Organized by: University of Tsukuba, School of Art and Design, Calligraphy Course

The Takanokiribon Kokinshu is the oldest surviving copy of the Kokin Wakashū, written in the mid-11th century by three calligraphers (a collaborative writing team), and is a prime example of the beauty of kana calligraphy.
Currently, only three complete volumes and some missing copies and fragments remain, but a complete restoration of the entire collection has now been completed through copying and imitations by students, graduates, and alumni of the calligraphy course at the University of Tsukuba.
We would appreciate your kind attention and guidance.
