School of Art and Design, Calligraphy
The roots of the School of Art and Design's calligraphy field date back to 32, when the Department of Art at Tokyo University of Education, the predecessor of our university, established a "Calligraphy major." In 1957, with the opening of the School of Art and Design at the University of Tsukuba, it was established as one of the courses in the Fine Arts major, and in 50, with the abolition of the major, it became one of the 1975 fields in the school, as it stands today. Over its long history, the school has produced many excellent calligraphy experts.
