Visual Communication Design
In the visual design field, students comprehensively learn and research visual design.Visual design is a field of design that attempts to convey content beautifully and effectively by appealing to the visual sense.Although it is related to graphic design and information design, it is named this way to emphasize the visual formative aspect.Specific content includes illustrations and typography.(Design related to characters), print and editorial design, photography, digital graphics, etc.Students will also learn about advertising design, package design, design systems for companies and organizations, signage planning, color planning, book design, picture books, etc.
As a basic policy of education, we aim for an organic combination of theory and practice. Therefore, classes are designed to allow students to absorb knowledge while also allowing them to touch the equipment and create their own products based on research and experiments. We also respect the attitude of exploring issues from a broad perspective rather than confining yourself to a narrow specialized field. In other words, we emphasize connections with adjacent fields and also attempt research from an interdisciplinary perspective. For example, in classes in the Composition/Comprehensive Art area, students can develop a sense of color and form, and learn about new contemporary forms, while in classes in the information design area of the design major, students can learn to utilize new media such as the web. There is a need to utilize these results in visual design research and production. In addition, by coming into contact with various cultures and academic fields at various institutions within the university, students may be able to generate new ideas and expressions.
This field requires students to strive to develop a sense that matches the times, while at the same time actively tackling various contemporary design issues. We hope that this will produce creative and autonomous creators and researchers who will acquire a good balance between theory and practice and who will be able to collaborate with people from various fields.
