Printmaking
The aim of the printmaking field is to acquire the basic knowledge and techniques of printmaking through actual production, and to develop human resources who can contribute to society in a wide range of ways in the future as experts with rich sensibilities and highly creative expressiveness. We are providing education based on the following. There are four main types of prints: letterpress, intaglio, lithography, and stencil.Typical examples include woodblock prints, copperplate prints, lithographs, and screen prints.Modern prints do not stop there, but continue to expand the scope of their categories to include photography and CG.
While keeping an eye on these trends in modern printmaking, this department has the education and equipment to be able to produce mainly four types of prints. In order to choose printmaking as a unique means of expression and create works, it is essential to learn how to use these techniques and equipment. The first and second years offer an introduction and basic training, while the third and fourth years offer specialized courses that allow students to learn about printmaking in depth through practical skills.Furthermore, advanced training is now available at graduate schools.
