Environmental Design
In the environmental design field, we design and research our "environment" from a wide range of perspectives.Humans are "products" of the environment, and the environment is also a "product" of humans. The purpose of this course is to clarify the interdependent relationship between humans and the environment, and to learn about the "design" and "planning" of the environment accordingly.
The term "environmental design" is a new term that is not often heard in Japan. However, in Europe and America already20It has been used for more than years.Of course, the creation of such a name and its use as an object of design practice and scholarship had to be based on a certain historical background. The world around us, or the ``places'' in which we live, can all be called ``environments,'' regardless of their scale. However, up until now, design practices and academic thinking have been established by subdividing them.Interior design, architectural design, urban design, landscape(Landscaping)Design...and so on.However, as modern society undergoes rapid and major changes such as the development of science and technology, informationization, and changes in the industrial structure, it is impossible to continue to segment our lives, which are inherently complex and diverse. There is a risk of losing sight of the overall picture. Therefore, today, the field of ``environmental design'' was born in order to seek a new overview of the situation. In order to realize this, this research area will focus on indoor spaces.(Interior)beginning, street, square, park, district(Block), city, Areas of study(Including nature such as mountains, fields, lakes, rivers, etc.)The subject of study is "space" of all scales.By treating these aspects holistically and organically, we aim to create a space where people can live more comfortably. In other words, ``environmental design'' is a field that comprehensively studies environment creation and space creation = design for ``human recovery'' in modern times.
