Overview

The University of Tsukuba College of Art is a specialized art education institution established within a national comprehensive university.By taking advantage of the university environment where students can learn a variety of cutting-edge academic subjects and the ability to provide specialized education in 1 diverse art fields to a small group of 100 students per year, we have created a university with a wide range of insight and rich creativity. We are training art experts.To date, we have produced many outstanding graduates who play leadership roles in the art and design fields, including artists, designers, and researchers, and are active in society.

Students decide which courses to take on their own, based on the requirements for graduation and their own interests and goals.

1-2Annual

In addition to acquiring a wide range of basic abilities, students will assess their own interests and aptitude in order to decide on the field to which they belong.

[Main subjects]

•Basic subjects
Common subjects: general subjects, foreign language, information, physical education, freshman seminar, etc.
Related subjects: Subjects related to the teaching profession, subjects related to museums, subjects offered by other academic schools

•Specialized basic subjects
Art career education, introduction to art and design, art and culture, art and society, overview of art history,
Overview of design history, basic exercises, etc.

3Annual

Deepen your professional abilities by taking courses focused on specialized subjects in your field.For specialized subjects, please refer to the introduction page for each major area.

4Annual

Each student will set their own research theme and conduct their graduation research.every year2A graduation exhibition will be held at the Tsukuba Museum of Art in May.The University of Tsukuba Art Award is awarded to outstanding graduation research.

Bachelor of Science

If you meet the graduation requirements for the Arts major and are certified to graduate, you will receive a B.A.(Arts)Degree will be awarded.

Qualifications/Licenses

By completing the required credits and completing the practical training, students will be able to obtain the following qualifications.

・School teacher license(Junior high school XNUMXst class art, high school XNUMXst class art/crafts/calligraphy)

Physical Education/Arts Central Building (Building 5C)
Due to its location and shape, it is also commonly known as the ``Southern Gate'', and is one of the earliest buildings built at the University of Tsukuba.Many classes in the School of Arts are held here.The Great Plaster Room, which houses Michelangelo's giant statue of David, is one of the symbolic facilities of the School of Fine Arts.

Art specialized building (6A-6BBuilding)

Art building
This facility includes laboratories for faculty and graduate students, an art gallery, and a storage room for works owned by the University of Tsukuba.

Workshop building (Building 6C)
A facility equipped with specialized equipment, including a photography studio, printmaking practice room, printing practice room, sculpture practice room, and glass, ceramic, and woodworking workshops.

Physical arts library
Separate from the central library, this is a library that stores specialized literature and materials related to art and physical education.It has a rich collection of materials related to art and design, including specialized books, exhibition catalogs, specialized magazines, and research databases.
