Printmaking

Printmaking

The printmaking field aims to develop printmakers and various specialists related to printmaking who can play a leading role in society in the future by conducting highly specialized research based on the education acquired at our university or other universities. It is said that

In the first semester, we aim to cultivate the ability to promote research from both theory and practice through research on contemporary print trends and technique research, while focusing on production research on the possibilities of print expression as painting.

In the latter half of the course, each student aims to construct a new theory of print expression based on a theme they have set, through research on materials, actual observations, and experimental production to support the research.

In addition, as part of the course, an MC exhibition by first-term students and a DC exhibition by second-term students are held at the Tsukuba Museum of Art in Ibaraki Prefecture, and the results of each year's research are shown to the public.

Main specialized subjects

Print production A: There are various techniques for printmaking depending on the type of print. We will conduct research on these techniques through actual production, understand their characteristics and properties, and utilize them in future productions.

Printmaking B: Studying the possibilities of printmaking expression in contemporary art.In the spring semester, we collect materials about the artist, and in the fall semester, we set a theme about techniques and conduct experimental productions, which are presented at the end of each semester.

Special production of prints: Select a type of print based on an individually selected theme for graduation production, and experiment with print production.
