Work description:
Mitsuo Kano is one of Japan's leading copperplate printmakers who has been highly acclaimed at numerous international exhibitions, and is also in charge of book bindings and stage art.He considered copperplate prints to be ``thoughts surrounding metals,'' and had a strong interest in the state and changes of metal, which is a material plate, and called all of his self-made copperplate prints, other than etchings, ``intaglio.'' .The intaglio series ``Wave Theory,'' which includes this work, expresses the momentary fixation of color that emerges in a fluid world and generates form.It is characterized by deep yet highly pure colors with a metallic feel.
