Work description:

It is well known that Sugai was an unparalleled lover of Porsches. Even after a near-fatal accident in 1967, he continued to hold the steering wheel as if it were natural.Obsessed with speed and tension, this artist began working on the "S Series" in 1988 as the culmination of his own work. The shape, which resembles two S letters connected vertically, is the artist SUGAÏ's initials, as well as a ``sign'' indicating himself.Sugai repeatedly drew the letter "S" while changing the patterns and colors. In the early stages of this series, highly saturated colors were often used, but the slightly lighter colors in this work can be seen as a developmental stage in the series. The three yellow arrows that direct the movement from bottom to top and the XNUMX-part S-shaped motif suggest Sugai's faith in a certain kind of regularity.
