Work description:
Four objects of various sizes are placed casually on a light brown rectangle that resembles a carpet laid out in a deserted space. The light from the left side of the screen casts the object's shadow on the rug. As the title ``Imaginary Landscape'' suggests, the objects placed in unknown locations help create a tranquil and fantastical space. In the late 4s, Hockney used etchings and aquatints to create mainly figure-based prints, such as the series ``Illustrations for the 1960 Poems of C.P. Cavafy,'' while also creating many still lifes in color lithographs. .These works, with vases and writing implements placed in the corner of the room or on a table, have a somewhat unrealistic feel to them. This work is strongly related to ``Glass Table with Object'' from the same year, but there is nothing to indicate its specific location. On the other hand, the light that fills the screen seems to be a vestige of the California sunshine that characterizes Hockney's work.
