Explanation:
Kokutani is a group of ceramics from the early Edo period that were fired in what is now Arita, Saga Prefecture, and are characterized by brilliant colors and innovative designs. This plate is thought to have been produced in the mid-17th century. The edges of the flaps are painted in ultramarine blue, and about half of the surface is painted in bluish-green, creating a ``katsushingae'' design (a design in which the tone of the glaze and the pattern are divided into two). The section dyed blue-green has an arabesque pattern with a floral pattern colored in dark blue with a black outline, while the white section has a black outline colored in yellow, green, and purple. Camellia branches are drawn, and each section is divided by a black line and a border painted in yellow.Furthermore, there are green and red pine needle patterns on three sides on the back side.Furthermore, there is a ``Kakufuku'' inscription on the hill in the center of the back.
