Explanation:
Gosai refers to ceramics with patterns in various colors such as red, yellow, green, purple, and black, and its common name in Japan is ``iroe.''This work is thought to have been created to celebrate the 1713th birthday (XNUMX) of Emperor Kangxi, a famous ruler of the Qing dynasty. The thickness of the plate is very thin, and you can see the traces of the Unryu pattern carved on it before it was glazed, creating a faint background pattern. The image of a magpie perched on a peach branch is painted in subdued colors. On the edge of the plate, a hundred bats are depicted in a rich red pattern.Bat (bat) means auspicious omen because the character ``bat'' has the same sound as ``fuku.''This work, which has the inscription "Made in the Great Qing Dynasty Kangxi" on the back, is an excellent work that can be said to be the finest example of the five-color technique of the Kangxi era.
