Tokushima Survey September 2023

This is a story from a while ago.

I went to investigate mountain villages in Tokushima Prefecture with Professor Kobayashi from Shimane University.

There are scattered villages on the slopes, including the Ochiai village, which is built in a traditional manner.

It is said that they used to cultivate leaf tobacco and raise sericulture.

There is also a village famous for its dried persimmons.

Kouneke residence, an important cultural property. The outer walls are covered with split bamboo called ``Hishagitake''.It is said to be built to protect it from the wind and rain.

A small slope village. Are there any common conditions when choosing a place to live?
The fact that it has an overhanging roof means that it may be an attached building related to sericulture.
``Tsuzuro-do.''This temple has a unique appearance with a semi-outdoor space.
What is this grass used for?
