A while ago, I went to the southern tip of the Boso Peninsula.
If you go to the southern part of the Boso Peninsula, including Minamiboso City, you will see the landscape of Inumaki hedges.
There are also tangerine trees and cycads.
``Hedge'', ``Tangerine'', and ``Cycad''.
Surprisingly, the keywords for the research on greening design that I have been conducting so far were all available in Minamiboso.
Minamiboso southernmost monumentA stone monument at the southernmost tip of the Boso Peninsula, Nojimazaki Lighthouse, and a weather observatory.I thought there was no AMeDAS here, but when I looked into it, it turned out to be a Japan Coast Guard observatory. Some villages had dense dogwood hedges.Dogmaki hedge path.Inumaki gate. It's hard to tell from the photo, but there are also mandarin orange trees in the garden.Well maintained.Dog maki gate, part XNUMX.Inumaki Gate, Part XNUMX.You will come across cycads here and there.
We held a presentation and review session for Environmental Design Exercise XNUMX.
The challenge was to find a way to reuse an old, vacant old house in Niigata Prefecture as a public facility, as a place for new values.
Looking at the students' proposals, "interaction" emerged as a common theme.
・A space where local people can enjoy music through music
・A space where local people can relax and read books
・Space where efforts can be made to promote migration
They drew each of them.
Hints for future improvement methods that can be gleaned from these
・It may be possible to partially renovate an old folk house without reusing the entire space (the entire space). Isn't it okay to have some parts that you don't want to expand or modify (don't use, leave as is)?
・Instead of assuming that the facility will be used throughout the year, it may be possible to assume that it will be used during the period from spring to autumn when there is no snowfall or accumulation.
・Aren't there things that have utility value other than the architecture itself, such as molded glass?
・In addition to the direction of ``renovating the building,'' there may also be a way to reconfigure the space by inserting ``furniture that makes use of the building.''
There was a harvest of ideas such as these.
There are still many possibilities for ideas for reusing old houses and promoting migration.
A paper from our laboratory was published in "Humans and the Living Environment" Volume 29, No. 2.
The title of the paper is
“Survey on the distribution and architectural characteristics of mandarin orange huts in Tsukumi City, Oita Prefecture”
.
The content is a compilation of some of the results of graduate student Mr. Mizuhata's graduation thesis and master's thesis. He organized everything carefully and carefully.Thank you.
I believe that this paper will serve as important basic material when considering the future of mandarin orange cultivation landscapes, including mandarin orange huts.
I believe that the idea that ``first of all, it is important to correctly understand the current situation'' is an important and fundamental idea that applies to many things, not just landscapes, but it is often neglected.
I end up thinking that I "understood" something without really researching it.
However, the field survey with its ups and downs was good for my calves.
Professor Hirosuke Kurihara, a lecturer at Tohoku Institute of Technology and a graduate of Hashimoto's laboratory, received the "Human-Living Environment Society Encouragement Award" and the award ceremony was held at the 46th Human-Living Environment Symposium.
The award-winning paper is based on research that Professor Kurihara conducted while enrolled in our laboratory as a doctoral graduate student.
Award-winning thesis title: "Survey on the actual situation of Areas of studyal housing and housing that uses wood stoves in Kanayama Town, Mogami District, Yamagata Prefecture. Focusing on the use of forest resources as building materials and fuel."
A two-shot of Mr. Kurihara (right) and Chairman Takada (left). Is it rare?Take a commemorative photo with me.
I participated in the 46th Human-Living Environment Symposium held at Egre Himeji.
The chairman is Professor Tadahiro Tsuchikawa of the University of Hyogo.I have been indebted to Mr. Tsuchikawa since my student days.
It has been about 35 years since I visited Himeji.Last time I went to Himeji Castle on a high school field trip.
Last year's 45th symposium was a hybrid of face-to-face and online events, but this time it will be held entirely in-person.A poster session was also held.
There were no social gatherings, so I can't say that things are completely back to normal yet, but I feel like we are slowly making progress while taking infection control measures.
