To Shimane November 2021 Part 11

In Shimane, I was able to see many other things besides persimmon huts.

Fishing villages, stone warehouses, streets and facilities related to tatara iron manufacturing, etc...

I also took a quick look at the Tsukiji pine tree, but it seems like it hasn't been pruned or shaped in a while.I think that's what I noticed.

I'm a little worried.

To Shimane November 2021 Part 11

I went to Shimane Prefecture.

The main purpose this time was "Kakigoya".

It was the height of the season, and the dried persimmons lined up in the persimmon hut looked spectacular.

We were guided by Professor Kobayashi, an associate professor at Shimane University.

To Hida November 2021 Part 11

I visited Tanekura Village for the first time in a while.

I think the last time I came was before the Great East Japan Earthquake, so it's been over 10 years! ?

The beautiful scenery was well maintained and managed.

The scenery of Tanegura is not only cool, but also somehow comforting.

To Hida November 2021 Part 11

This time, I visited Hida to check out the vertical storehouses and itakura.

I could see a few hybrid-style attached buildings to the storehouse and itakura.

Some of them are authentic Tategurumi with earthen storehouses built into houses.

The home of vertical gurumi? In the Suwa Areas of study of Nagano Prefecture, there is a theory that the smallness of the site is one of the reasons for the establishment of Tategurumi, but in this Areas of study, site conditions do not seem to be a factor.

And in the streets of Takayama, preparations for Christmas were progressing steadily.

Am I the only one who feels something strange about Santa in the Denken area?

To Hida November 2021 Part 11

I went to the Hida Areas of study of Gifu Prefecture.

First, go to Shirakawa-go.

There were many tourists, but compared to before the coronavirus, I'm sure it's still far fewer.

However, there were groups of junior high school students who appeared to be on a school trip, and there were foreign tourists, so it felt like life was slowly returning to normal.

Residents have begun preparing for snowfall.

There were various types of snow enclosures.

60th Japanese Biometeorological Society Conference

A presentation was made at the 60th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Biometeorology.

The title of the presentation was ``Summer thermal environment formed in the underfloor space of Takakura on Amami Oshima''.

This is a compilation of the WBGT measurement results from the thermal environment survey conducted on Amami Oshima this summer.

Following last year, this year's event was held online as well.

Holding academic conferences online has the advantage of being less time-consuming and economical, and there are many positive opinions.

To be honest, personally, I feel that holding academic conferences online is somewhat bland and unsatisfying.

To Oita November 2021

I went to Tsukumi City, Oita Prefecture.

Various types of mandarin oranges were growing in the mandarin orange field, but the Unshu mandarin oranges, which are about to be harvested, were turning orange.

Some types of mandarin oranges, such as Sun Queen, are packed in bags with branches, but I once again realized that the orange color of Unshu mandarin oranges is an important landscape element.

Also, the factory architecture is really cool.

A 5-piece set of Tsukumi landscapes: ``Sanwa tangerine hut,'' ``tangerine field,'' ``Monorac,'' ``lime factory,'' and ``sea.''
