Sound environment measurement exercise

We practiced measuring the sound environment using a sound level meter.

The survey was conducted in three groups.

The research theme that the students came up with was

"Investigation of soundproof sheets used during construction"

"Investigation of noise suitable for studying and working"

"Sound in the silence"

Student-like thinking and ingenuity can be seen, such as carefully paying attention to the distance from the sound source, setting a theme based on daily experience, and evaluating the environment based on the measurement results using ⭐︎ numbers. I did.

Based on their experience in the survey, they also realized that ``who makes the sound and what makes it'' influences the evaluation of noise.

Mt. Tsukuba and Mt. Fuji

You can see Mt. Tsukuba from the window of Hashimoto's laboratory.

At this time of year, if the weather is nice in the evening, you can see Mt. Fuji from the building where our laboratory is located.

Mt. Fuji visible from the XNUMXth floor of the art building.I used to be able to see it from the XNUMXth floor, where the laboratory is located, but perhaps because the trees in the foreground have grown, I can no longer see it unless I go to the XNUMXth floor.disappointing.

It would be this big if the shooting conditions were the same as Mt. Fuji.

Design exercise XNUMX P.S.

The presentation and review session for Design Exercise XNUMX was also photographed by a professional photographer.

In addition to the group photo, I was also given photos of the works, so I would like to introduce some of the works that I was unable to take well enough to introduce.

A proposal for light and sound production at an aquarium. When a fish blocks the laser light, it makes a sound.Even if you look at it as it is as an aquarium light, it's quite interesting.
A proposal that uses a rotating shade to create movement of light and shadow. It was a short-term task, but they created a mock that worked properly. It might not be conveyed well without a video.

A proposal in which the lights inside the store after closing move from side to side, creating the effect of swaying light from the windows. This may not be conveyed well without a video.

Large signboard for Shuangbong Festival

The Shutamine Festival (University of Tsukuba school festival) was held from November 11nd to XNUMXth.

A large signboard appeared there, did you notice it?

After receiving consultation from the student team, we proposed using cedar wood from the Tsukuba Mountains for the large signboard, using the dropped board construction method.

This was made possible with the cooperation of Kamibayashi Sawmill.

It seems like they had a tough time, making mistakes in cutting the materials and not being able to assemble them properly, but they were able to successfully create a new scenery for the school festival.

A view of the large signboard. Some parts are missing. . .Maybe it didn't fit properly? ?
If you look at the back, you can clearly see that it is made of cedar wood.
A student team putting the finishing touches on the installation.Because of the dropped board construction method, you can draw on each piece separately.
Is there a small sign next to the large sign?too.
Although the notation seems a bit strange, the laboratory and Kamibayashi Sawmill were introduced as a thank you for the cooperation.
bonus. There was a banner announcing the participation in the Hakone Ekiden.

Environmental Design Exercise XNUMX Field Survey

Last weekend, we conducted a field survey for Environmental Design Exercise XNUMX in Tsuchiura.

The event was originally scheduled to take place a week ago, but was postponed due to bad weather.

The weather was nice this time.

Even though it was November, it was warm enough to wear a T-shirt.
