Design Exercise XNUMX Presentation/Critique

Today was the presentation and review session for Design Exercise XNUMX.

As I mentioned earlier, the theme of the assignment is "Terrasu".It was a lighting issue.

The first half was held in the studio in the workshop building, and the second half was held in the design presentation room.

It was a short assignment of about one month, but I think everyone did their best.

Looking at the students, it seems that there are those who are making good use of the university, teachers, and classes for their personal growth, and there are those who wish they could make more use of the environment they have.

Since I am still in my second year, I hope that this experience will be useful in the future.

There were many works that I couldn't take pictures of, so I couldn't introduce them even if I wanted to, but I'd like to introduce some of them.

The presentation held at the photo studio had a different atmosphere than usual.
A proposal for a beer garden that shines like a yurt.
A glowing umbrella. The idea is that an umbrella can become a communication device.
Cocktail bar stall suggestion. The silhouette effect is interesting.
Pedestrian suggestion with puddles. It expresses the feeling of light passing through to the ground level.
A proposal for a store that actively utilizes daylight lighting.

Yashikibayashi Roundtable Discussion in Iide Town

I participated in a Yashikibayashi roundtable discussion held in Iide Town, Yamagata Prefecture.

Hashimoto gave a brief talk about the results of a small winter climate observation survey conducted in Yashikibayashi about two years ago.

First, there was a greeting from Professor Kuroda of the University of Tsukuba, followed by a brief explanation of Yashikibayashi by Professor Sato and Hashimoto of Meijo University.

Afterwards, at the Matsuyama residence, we took a walk through the forest while listening to explanations from Professor Ito from the University of Tsukuba and Professor Hama from Yamagata University.

Finally, we divided into two groups and had a roundtable discussion.

A lively exchange of opinions took place about memories of the mansion forest and Kazarai, and the future of Iide's mansion forest landscape.

First, Professor Kuroda of the University of Tsukuba gave a greeting and explained the purpose of the event.
Unfortunately it was raining, but all the participants went for a walk to the Matsuyama residence.

At the end, all the residents in attendance gave their impressions one by one.

Environmental design exercise XNUMX has also begun.

Starting this year, I will be in charge of Environmental Design Exercise XNUMX.

This is a design exercise for third-year environmental design students.

The theme is "a city that feels like a park."

The target area is the central urban area of Tsuchiura City.

There are very few parks in the center of Tsuchiura City, which is a former castle town, at the level of a block park.

(Although there is Kamejo Park, which is a castle ruins.)

There are also few street trees.

By reconsidering and redefining the "park-like function" required of the central urban areas of local cities in modern society and proposing necessary public facilities (facilities that can be used by a variety of people), we will This is a challenge to come up with ideas for redeveloping a park-like space.

Last week, I immediately went to the first stage of the field survey.

Students check on the current situation in Tsuchiura City as the rain comes and goes. The photo in the background is a recently built commercial facility.
I was surprised by the existence of Mall 505.

Design exercise XNUMX start

The fall semester started this week.

Starting this year, the seminar classes taught in the fall semester will change, and will now include ``Design Exercise 2'' for second-year students and ``Environmental Design Exercise 4'' for third-year students.

Yesterday was the first day of Design Exercise 4.

Design Exercise 4 will be conducted with Associate Professor Hiroyuki Yamada of Information and Product Design.

The assignment is "Terasu".

The sub-theme is "Erasing the tempo".

It's a lighting issue. We can make proposals for lighting equipment, spaces, the real world, or the virtual (Internet) world. Proposals that connect two worlds are also acceptable.

This is a highly flexible project typical of the University of Tsukuba College of Art's Design Department.

The first day didn't end with an explanation of the assignment, but rather a brainstorming session.

Organize the keywords you came up with.At first I was using a desk...
In the second half, the space at the desks became so small that some groups started brainstorming on the floor.
