Our laboratory uses experimental psychological methods and neuroscientific methods to address various issues related to design, sensibilities, and consumer behavior. It is unique in that it quantitatively and objectively evaluates user behavior and mental movements using various measurement devices such as eye tracking devices, electromyographs, heart rate monitors, fNIRS, and fMRI.Our mission is not only to evaluate the good and bad of existing designs, but also to discover and solve hidden problems in current designs and create new designs for the future.

Main research themes

Product evaluation using behavioral and physiological indicators
Information design to improve consumer information literacy
Psychological and neuroscientific evaluation of pleasure and displeasure induced by product patterns and images
Identifying stimuli that elicit sensitive responses
Elucidation of the brain mechanism that causes sensitivity
How people who are sensitive to stimuli and those who are not can live together
Safety, security and consumer behavior
