We aim to understand human characteristics and use that knowledge to design systems that realize advanced interactions. We are particularly interested in the "non-verbal information" used in human-to-human communication, and are proposing systems that achieve smooth communication by conveying this information. We are also researching real-world oriented interfaces that incorporate natural human behavior into the interface.
The technologies used will be diverse, ranging from existing media such as voice and video calls, to physical devices such as communication robots, AR/VR, etc. In addition to developing the system, we will quantitatively and qualitatively clarify its effectiveness through user experiments.

Main research themes

A communication robot that combines physical reality and AR expression
Smart speaker that utilizes gaze input and output
Supporting conversation in VR space by recreating dog walking
A modular toy that visualizes information transmission through light
