Diploma Policy

Purpose of human resource development and image of human resources to be cultivated

Learn the practical ability to create products and environments that improve people's minds, and aim to create social systems that create bright and fulfilling connections between people, and develop rich and constructive regions and societies. The purpose of this program is to train highly specialized professionals who have the qualities of international top leaders, or researchers who will play a central role in a variety of research and educational institutions, who can utilize their creativity to nurture, maintain, and revitalize the world.

Therefore, we will practice cross-cutting, practical, and international learning, have the desire to propose solutions to problems that transcend regional and cultural barriers, have the tenacity to produce results, and have the ability to discern (the ability to identify issues) and make breakthroughs. We cultivate human resources who have the ability to complete tasks backed by technical skills (planning ability, logical persuasive ability) and professional ability or specialized research ability.

Standards for awarding master's degrees (diploma policy)

A master's degree (Design Studies) will be awarded to those who have met the requirements for completing the course stipulated in the University of Tsukuba Graduate School Regulations and related regulations and who are recognized to have the following knowledge and abilities.

(General knowledge/ability)

  1. Ability to utilize knowledge: Ability to utilize advanced knowledge to benefit society
  2. Management ability: ability to respond accurately to issues from a broad perspective
  3. Communication skills: Ability to convey specialized knowledge accurately and clearly
  4. Teamwork ability: Ability to work together as a team and actively contribute to achieving goals.
  5. Internationality: Awareness of contributing to international society

(Specialized knowledge/ability)

  1. Conceptual/expressive ability: problem identification ability (discerning ability) and planning ability
  2. Analytical ability: specialized problem analysis ability to solve problems from a wide perspective
  3. Solving ability: The ability to create new solutions and propose results to society and the academic world, backed by specialized skills.

  4. Leadership ability: the ability to demonstrate leadership and achieve goals
  5. Internationalism: High awareness and desire to work internationally and contribute to international society
